Today I dropped Emma off for a DECA retreat. Little did I know that the location used to be the camp I attended in the late 60s! What was once Camp Esther K. Newman is now Platte River State Park!

I worked on the maintenance crew of the camp for the summer in 1965. I cleaned toilets, ran a tractor, and washed dishes. What a great experience for a 15=year-old. Rabbi Lear was wonderful. The rest of the camp leadership?,...not so much.

I went to the camp for several years, I think I remember you, how about the counseler from Africa?
ReplyDeleteI still remember Sherman and all the fun at the camp. Many years there. The BOND Family and all their kids. Horseback riding and lots of big bonfires.
